How to get to Thassos

There are two ferry boat routes to Thassos:

From Kavala to Skala Prinos

Kavala is easily accessible by car or bus via the Ignatia Odos (European E90) motorway. The E90 stretches across the whole of the north of Greece from Igoumenitsa on the western Ionian / Adriatic coast to Alexandroupolis on the eastern Turkish border. The E90 provides convenient links to all of the Balkan countries and from tourists arriving from Italy. The journey from Kavala port to Skala Prinos takes about one and a quarter hours. From Skala Prinos you will find Potos and Hotel Anna Star 27 kilometers to the south. The map above shows our exact location.

From Keramoti to Limenas (Thassos Town)

Keramoti can also be reached by car from the E90 or by bus from Kavala via Chrisoupoli. The ferry boat journey to the island capital, Limenas (Thassos Town) takes 35 minutes. From Limenas you can travel in either direction to Potos which is about 50 kilometers away. We recommend that you take the western route passing Prinos and Limenaria as there are less hills and turns and the road is easier to drive. Please see the map above for our exact location.

By airplane

Thassos does not have an airport, however it is well serviced by Kavala Airport during the summer months (officially known as Megas Alexandros Airport - international code KVA) which is only a short taxi ride (17 km's) away from Keramoti. Alternatively you can use the international airport of Thessaloniki which offers international flights all year round. From Thessaloniki you can hire a car or take the coach to Kavala, the journey time on the Ignatia Odos (E90) is no more than 2 hours.
